  • Cindy Hoelke

    ▷ Kindergarten

    Mrs. Hoelke graduated from Tennessee Temple University with a B.S. in Education. Mrs. Hoelke is a loyal Atlanta Braves baseball fan and she enjoys walking, hiking, and riding her bike! Mrs. Hoelke recently experienced a zip line adventure near the Smokey Mountains. One of the treasures in her life has been watching her three grown children become the persons God planned for them to be. She began teaching Kindergarten with SMCS in 2001 and has taught young children for over 20 years.  Mrs. Hoelke desires that each of her students develop a life-long love for learning! She wants each of her students to know the Living God personally and intimately!

  • Elissa Clark

    ▷ KINDERGARTEN

    Mrs. Clark graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in German. She has been involved in many aspects of children’s ministry at First Presbyterian Church, including teaching grades 1 through 3 for ten years and volunteering as a high school leader. She is an avid reader, an unfussy gardener, and, along with her husband George, a loving parent to four adult-ish children.  Mrs. Clark considers it a joy and a privilege to spend time with children, encouraging their curiosity and love of learning. She looks forward to investing in young minds and hearts, learning with them about our world and about our great God, who is always at work.

  • Connie Stewart

    ▷ 1st Grade

    Mrs. Stewart has been teaching at SMCS since 2013.  She is thrilled to be able to help her young students understand more fully who God is and how much He loves them.  She graduated from Mississippi College, with a B.S. Ed in 1988.  Her husband, Joey, is a pastor.  Serving as a pastor's wife for 17 years, Mrs. Stewart homeschooled their children and started a homeschool co-op in which she had administrative and teaching responsibilities.  Along with teaching first grade at SMCS, she teacher alongside her husband at RYM and for women's retreats.  Mrs. Stewart is so grateful for her four children and loves days when all of her precious family is under one roof. She loves to garden and to play with their Hungarian sheepdog, Maggie.

  • abby souder

    ▷ 1ST GRADE

    Miss Souder is a graduate of Belhaven University with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a Minor in Dance.  She grew up on Signal Mountain and while she has been teaching at SMCS for one year, she is no stranger to the school.  Miss Souder attended SMCS grades K - 7.  Her dream was to return to SMCS to teach.  She loves to nurture her student's individuality and unique creativity.  She enjoys spending time with her twin sister, crocheting, laughing with friends and dancing!

  • Kelley Harrison

    ▷ 2nd Grade

    Mrs. Harrison grew up on Signal Mountain, and received a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She taught kindergarten for 5 years before starting a family, then taught preschool for 5 years before coming to SMCS. She enjoys teaching students about the loving, faithfulness of God through all subject matter. She and her husband, Frank, have two teenage daughters. They enjoy spending time together doing anything outside, especially hiking and camping with their golden retriever, Bella.

  • Meredith Hannah

    ▷ 2nd Grade

    Miss Hannah graduated from Lipscomb University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She was born and raised in Chattanooga and is very involved in serving with the youth ministry at Calvary Chapel.  Miss Hannah looks forward to seeing her SMCS students grow academically and also in their relationship with the Lord.

  • Michelle Smith

    ▷ 3rd Grade

    Mrs. Smith graduated from Campbell University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She completed several courses towards her Master’s degree, specializing in reading. Prior to teaching here at SMCS, Mrs. Smith taught for four years on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Mrs. Smith encourages her students to “trust in the Lord with all their hearts” and to “work as if working for the Lord” (Prov. 3:5, Col. 3:23). She implements a hands-on approach as she engages students in exploring the world around them. Mrs. Smith enjoys spending time with her husband and their two sweet girls.

  • Kellie Barry

    ▷ 3rd Grade

    Mrs. Barry grew up in what used to be the small town of Madison, Alabama. She received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Athens State University. She then spent some time in the great state of California. She worked as a preschool teacher while she earned her Master's in Educational Leadership with a certificate in Early Childhood Education Administration. She is thankful the Lord has brought her to SMCS and excited to begin her third year at the school. She is married to Patrick and has two children. She enjoys hiking, running, and chasing her kids.

  • Elizabeth Dyer

    ▷ 4th Grade

    Mrs. Dyer graduated from Covenant College with a degree in elementary education. She taught second grade for a year at a Christian school in Chickamauga, GA before moving to Houston, TX where she taught fourth grade for three years at a classical Christian school. Mrs. Dyer loves teaching at SMCS, and she is thrilled to be a part of a school community where Christ is the center of everything. She is married to Will and enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and being in God's creation.

  • Molly Gardner

    ▷ 4th Grade

    Miss Gardner grew up on Signal Mountain and graduated from Covenant College with a B.A. in English, a Minor in Art and major course work in German.  Prior to joining the SMCS staff in 2015, Miss Gardner served as the National Events Coordinator and Professional Photographer for Amani ya Juu African Women’s Mission Ministry.  She enjoys spending time with students, getting to experience the joys of learning more about God alongside them.  Miss Gardner desires that both she and her students will come to a deeper knowledge of Christ each school year, and that their time together be a harmonious testament to His grace and sovereignty.  She is an avid reader, a lover of puns and classic movies, and enjoys exploring every form of the artistic world – painting, photography, sketching and teaching art.


  • Heather Dirkse

    ▷ 5th Grade

    Heather Dirkse graduated from Covenant College with a degree in elementary education. She taught fourth grade for three years before having children. Since that time she has taught Bible to middle school students and developed Bible curriculum for eleven years.

  • Anne Fellers

    ▷ 5th Grade

    Miss Fellers received her B.S. from the University of Montevallo and her Masters in Education from Covenant College. She has taught elementary school for over 20 years; she began teaching fourth grade with SMCS in 2001. Miss Fellers also is the director of SMCS’ After-School Program. Her class focuses on rich literature and a hands-on approach to learning that includes the maintenance of a bird garden for the school. She seeks to help her students understand that the Bible is much more than history but applies to every aspect of their lives today.

  • Jennifer Kring

    ▷ Art

    Mrs. Kring is a graduate of Covenant College and has been active in the field of Fine Art for over 14 years as both an artist and educator. She has a passion for the creative process which she strives to pass on to her students. Under her guidance, art students will develop their technical skills which they utilize in projects rooted in examples of Classical Masters. Mrs. Kring strives to communicate that the creative process is a direct reflection of the Creator himself. She and her husband, Josh, both love this unique educational environment in which both her daughters learn. As a family they enjoy the creativity and natural world around them through making art and outdoor activities

  • Danette Kelley

    ▷ Principal

    Mrs. Kelley received her B.S. from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She has five years of high school level teaching experience and has served with her husband, Pat, on the SMCS Board for many years. As the Principal, Mrs. Kelley enjoys the daily opportunity to be used by God to further the mission of SMCS. She enjoys working in a positive, nurturing environment where the staff is great, the students are eager to learn, and the parents and Board are involved and supportive.

  • Laura Davis

    ▷ PRINCIPAL

    Mrs. Davis received her Bachelor's in Accounting from Middle Tennessee State University. She has held various positions in her field, and feels blessed that it has led her to SMCS. Mrs. Davis grew up on Signal Mountain and currently resides on the mountain. She is married to love of her life, Josh, and has three daughters and a newborn son.
